Purple Hands - Modern Barossa red wines
In 2006, Purple Hands started with one tonne of Shiraz and the goal of producing fruit-driven wines with elegance and texture. Since 2006, Craig and Mark have introduced us to incredible wines, earning five-star status in the Halliday Wine Companion. In 2014, Craig was named Barossa Winemaker of the Year.
We have learned about Barossa Montepulciano, Aglianico, Negroamaro, and Primitivo through their wines. The goal is to create blends that create something entirely different from any single variety that goes into the wine. Dare we say that if Tuscany has its Super Tuscans, then this is the beginning of the Super Barossans? Here, we are thinking about what grape varieties will carry the Barossa into the future, and how they will be blended. This six-pack offered today gives you insight into these wines.
This six-pack also features the opportunity to compare two x Grenaches from Purple Hands. The Purple Hands comes from a 1961 vineyard in Lyndoch, with 25% whole cluster, natural ferment and basket-pressed to old puncheons. The 'Planta Circa' comes from the famous circa 1880 PF Zimmerman vineyard, also on the outskirts of Lyndoch, with 30% whole cluster, natural ferment and basket-pressed to old puncheons.
