Sons of Eden Freya Riesling – Museum Release 2005

$83.00

Tasting Note

Sourced from 40- to 50-year-old vines, the 2005 vintage of Freya has evolved into a wine of remarkable complexity, displaying citrus blossom, fresh lime, and steely minerality. Over time, it has developed delicate layers of lemon butter and pastry, offering a refined expression of time and terroir.

The Story

Freya was the foremost goddess of ancient Germanic lands where the Riesling grape originated. This two vineyard wine honours early German settlers who cultivated the Riesling vine in the exemplary micro-climate of South Australia’s Eden Valley.

Winemaking

The 2005 Freya Riesling has been hand harvested, chilled to 6ºC and whole bunch pressed. It was our intention to make the finest example of an Eden Valley Riesling. The emphasis was on retaining only the purest of free run juice and fermenting it cool to savour the delicate aromas. The ferment was taken to dryness after which the wine was gently fined, filtered and bottled.
