Tasting Note
Lifted notes of dark berries, plum and boysenberry are layered with hints of anise and clove. The palate is dark and brooding, with an excellent concentration of layered rich dark fruits. Notes of dark chocolate and earth glide through the finish, supported by youthful tannins and a lingering line of spice.

Viticulture & Winemaking
Entity is crafted from parcels of old vine Shiraz sourced across Krondorf, Tanunda, Marananga, Ebenezer, Moppa and Eden Valley, with 85% from Barossa Valley and 15% from Eden Valley.
Each parcel was fermented separately in small stainless-steel fermenters, with some incorporating submerged caps and twice-daily pump overs. Following fermentation, the wines were matured for 15 months in oak—25% of which was new fine-grain French (300L hogsheads), the rest in older French oak hogsheads and puncheons. The result is a wine with ample structure and depth, designed to drink well now or cellar gracefully for 15+ years under the right conditions.
The Story
John Duval’s legacy with Barossa Shiraz stretches back to his early career at Penfolds in the 1970s. It was during the 1990s that he championed the maturation of old vine Shiraz in French oak—a now-common practice that began with his work on the iconic RWT Shiraz. Entity continues that vision: a pure, elegant expression of Barossa Shiraz shaped by meticulous winemaking and old vine pedigree.
