Why Gratitude? Jason's parents were of a brave generation that rejected government cash offers to remove old Barossa vineyards in the 1980s. Their determination to preserve their vines, driven by an unwavering belief in their potential to produce exceptional wine, has become their legacy—not only of vineyards but also of admirable character and faith. This wine symbolises Jason's gratitude for their resilience. It is the very best Shiraz of the vintage.

"This special patch of fruit was handpicked off the family vineyard. There was just something that stood out to me each time I went back to sample this specific Hogs Head Barrel…and I knew this would be the next addition to my Single Barrel Selection range. I allowed the wine to mature in new French oak for two years, taking on characteristics of a true Barossa Shiraz. I am excited to finally share this wine with you." Jason Schwarz.

"This is one of those wines which, from the first sniff, you know you’re in for quite the luxe experience. Dense but never overbearing, nose and flavours of salty soy sauce, roast beef and beef stock, dark rum ‘n raisin chocolate, figs, fresh and stewed plums, fruitcake and creamy, high quality oak. Has a pleasing thickness to its texture, but a well defined line of crisp tannins keep a sense of drive and precision to this, delivering all-important savoury balance. As with all Schwarz wines, it’s brains over brawn - a hedonistic, clearly top tier Barossa Shiraz ready to wow but will well reward patient cellaring." Felix Riley, Founder of Felixir

96 points, Dave Brookes, Wine Companion "A new wine in the Schwarz lineup, a single-barrel selection of the best shiraz of the vintage, and '21 is certainly a cracking year to begin with. Deep macerated satsuma plum and blackberry fruit are cut with hints of baking spice, brandied fruits, licorice, dark chocolate, earth, panforte, espresso and oak spice. Impressive depth, fruit weight and velvety flow across the palate, with thick, powdery tannins in support. It has no lack of power and heft but still retains a sense of energy and freshness. A great inaugural release in the classic Barossa style."
