The 2022 is sourced from the Chapman family, who farm on the famed Kalimna sands. The Chapmans were a previous Grange grower. The first Annexus was borne in 2013 when John got access to an amazing 1858-planted grenache vineyard in Eden Valley. In 2016 John Duval Wines introduced an Annexus Mataro and finally, completing the deconstruction of Plexus SGM, an Annexus Shiraz in 2021. Each vintage John Duval Wines aims to highlight a different, exceptional single parcel of Shiraz to showcase the amazing sites they have access to in their home, the Barossa.

Reviews:
95 points - Stuart Knox, The Real Review “Deep purple from core to rim. Mulberry, dark chocolate and dried lavender bush aromatics. Rich and intense fruit, full in weight but not overbearing, there’s ample ironstone and dark chocolate notes that balance the fruit weight. Tannins are firm but fine, guiding it with style to a long and finely wrought finish.”
93 points - Gary Walsh, WineFront February 2024 “Very purple tasting wine here; dark cherry, boysenberry, dark chocolate and biscuit spices, sage and new leather. It’s full-bodied but finds balance in a rich and salty dark fruited way; acidity is quite bright, tannin is silty and grainy, and while there’s a little warmth on the finish, it still pulls pretty long and offers some orange peel tang to close. Good wine. No shortage of flavour and impact.”
