Tasting Note
This blend of Cinsault, Mataro, Grenache and Shiraz pours a vibrant red with aromas of mulberry, red plum and candied violet rising from the glass. Cinsault brings aromatic lift and red fruit brightness, Grenache adds spice and suppleness, Mataro delivers savoury depth, and Shiraz rounds it out with structure and drive. The palate is lively and layered with raspberry, cranberry and blackberry, threaded with sweet spices, ginger and a hint of amaro. Juicy acidity adds energy, while gravelly tannins and savoury detail provide shape and length. Bright yet grounded, it’s a wine with charm, clarity and character.

Red plum, red cherry and raspberry fruits with some cranberry high tones and hints of exotic spice, amaro, drying meadow flowers, dried citrus rind, biltong and ginger. Febrile and filigreed with a snappy, spacious mouthfeel and line, some sour cherry and red plum acidity swooping up at the back end. Great drinking.

Medium to deep ruby red colour. Mulberry, blackberry and candied violets on the nose. Medium to full weighted: mixed berries and sweet spices sit at the core with a lift of acidity adding liveliness. Good length on a gravelly tannin carry.

The Story
The inspiration to make this unpretentious and casual red was seeded when working harvest in Provence as a youngster – lunches were generally longer than they should have been, the food generous and hearty, the wine at the table was perfect for the occasion local, young and fresh– and was poured liberally. And so when back to the Barossa – old growers, even older vineyards planted with varieties of Mediterranean origin, low input viticulture and simple vinification have delivered.
