The first parcel for the Meta Shiraz was picked on 3rd of March from the Barossa Valley, with the last parcel from Eden Valley picked on 6th of April. The fruit comes from seven different Sub regions around the Barossa, from ten different growers. Each parcel was picked according to desired ripeness and was processed separately in small open top fermenters using wild yeast. 9% of the fermentations had whole bunch fruit used to add complexity and structure to the finished wine. Once the different parcels had finished fermentation they were pressed to tank then transferred to French oak puncheons and hogs head barrels (18% of the oak used was new) where they matured until final blending in February 2023.
Vintage: 2021
Grape Variety: Shiraz
Region: Barossa Valley Stone Well, Light Pass, Vine Vale, & Eden Valley
Reviews:
95 points, David Sly, Decanter Magazine. “A lean perfume shoots straight through the flinty minerality of this slinky young model, being carefree and sashaying with confidence and poise. Deliberately lean and pouty, this has a luscious whole-bunch affected entry, bringing lifted violets and wine gum jubes, before crunchy red fruits bite through the blackberry core. Lots going on, and it persists, thanks to a clean, lean acid line. Drink it now.”
