Tasting Note
Perfumed nose of red fruits and spice – rose hip and dried rose petals overlay ripe raspberry, ripe red cherry, plum, nectarine and delicate cinnamon and mace notes. Intense mid weight palate with glowing red fruits on attack – red plum, raspberry and dried herb flavours – which fuse with plum stone like acids and light stony tannins on a fresh, dry finish.

Halliday Wine Companion
The 2022 Esprit release sees a blend of 86/6/4/4% grenache/shiraz/cinsault/mataro and it's sinewy and spicy this year. Red plum, raspberry and cherry, dried herbs and exotic spice with hints of pomegranate, pressed flowers, snapped twigs and ginger cake. Bright, stony acidity provides a bright pulse as the wine sashays energetically across the palate, finishing spice, red-fruited and moreish.

Vintage Summary
The 2022 growing season was mild and long with no protracted heat spikes or heavy rain events- it certainly felt cooler than what we perceive as ‘historically average’ and the numbers backed that up. Reasonable winter and spring rains delivered good subsoil moisture levels and frost and hail events that marked the last few seasons were absent. Signatures of the ’22 vintage in the Barossa and Eden Valley’s are its aromatic freshness, purity and clarity of fruit, typically modest palate weights, fresh and lithe tannin structures -all in all a delightful year.
