Lienert Vineyards Estate Grenache 2022

$45.00

Lienert Estate Grenache 2022 is a true showcase of craftsmanship and terroir from the Western Ridge of the Barossa Valley. Sourced from a meticulously managed vineyard, often referred to as John Lienert’s playground, this wine benefits from nine different clones of Grenache planted on the small acreage. These clones, selected from esteemed vineyards in Barossa, McLaren Vale, and Langhorne Creek, contribute to a complex and multifaceted wine that captures the diversity and heritage of the region.

Crafted with a minimalist approach, 30% of the fruit was fermented as whole bunches, with the remainder fermented as whole berries. Cooler fermentation temperatures were employed to preserve the vibrant aromatics, and the wine spent six months in old French oak puncheons on MLF lees. This careful aging process adds depth and texture without overshadowing the purity of the fruit. The result is a Grenache that shines with bright red cherry, raspberry, and rose petal notes, accented by subtle hints of dried herbs and spice.

The Western Ridge’s distinctive soils of red clay, sandy loams, and ironstone lend a mineral backbone and fine tannin structure, creating a wine that is both powerful and elegantly balanced. Lienert Estate Grenache 2022 beautifully captures the unique expression of Barossa’s Western Ridge, offering a lifted, nuanced, and unmistakably Barossan wine that pays homage to the land and its heritage.
