Schwarz Wine Co. Thiele Road Grenache 2022 - Museum Release

$50.00

Tasting Note

Inviting and beautifully poised, this Grenache opens with fresh and stewed raspberries, star anise, clove and a gentle lift of raspberry tea and vanillin. The palate is crisp yet full weighted, with gentle raspberry and cherry fruits layered alongside cola, brush smoke, iodine and finely integrated oak, finishing with delicate hints of turmeric and cardamom. Savoury, persistent and well defined, it carries both elegance and depth through to the finish.

This is an intriguing, full-weighted wine of compelling dry extract and savory, forceful length. Far from the archetype, or at least what I had construed that to be in these parts. Smoky and ferruginous, with aromas of Islay peat from a wild ferment and old vine je ne sais quoi. A darker brood, lathered with clove, anise, brush smoke and iodine, over the usual red fruited paradigm.
