Artisans Pete Schell (Spinifex) and Craig Stansborough (Purple Hands Wines) host this two hour masterclass, sharing insights into the approaches taken by Barossa winemakers to craft benchmark Barossa Grenache.

This two hour masterclass explores the influence of vineyard origin on the flavour, character and texture Australia’s grand statement of wine, Barossa Shiraz.

Australia’s Barossa region has proven its ability to produce world-class shiraz by winning two coveted ‘Best in Show’ awards at the 2022 Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) last night for wines from each of the Barossa’s two valleys; Eden Valley and Barossa Valley.

Huge congratulations to Artisans of Barossa’s Purple Hands Wines for taking home not one, but TWO trophies at the 2021 Royal Adelaide Wine Show.

The 2019 Purple Hands Planta Circa Ancestor Vine Grenache trumped the Grenache classes to take home the trophy for Best Grenache in Show, plus the Governor’s Trophy for Best South Australian Red Wine in Show.

Grenache Project 2020

Ten years ago you could not even give old vine grenache fruit away. Gnarled old vines that had survived more than a century of growing seasons were routinely ignored and passed over for young vine Shiraz, their glorious fruit often ending up in all kinds of generic blends, wasted.
