John Duval Wines Entity Shiraz 2020 - Museum Release

$67.00

Tasting Note

Attractive notes of dark berries and plum are supported by hints of liquorice and a gentle floral lift. Dark and brooding, the palate reveals tightly wound layers of rich black and blue fruits, intertwined with dark chocolate and spice, before finishing long with savoury tannins.

The Real Review

Ink black core, relaxing only slightly to a deep purple rim. Plums, dark chocolate and vanilla pods on the nose. Deep, powerful and brooding on the palate. Dark fruits, black olives and woody spices all coil around each other, vying for attention, leaning heavily into the savoury spectrum. The tannins bring a further sense of power with a firmness that suits, while still retaining a fine powdery texture. A serious food wine.

Halliday Wine Companion

A deeply resonant shiraz from ex-Grange winemaker John Duval from old-vine vineyards in the Barossa Valley subregions of Krondorf, Tanunda, Ebenezer and Moppa, and the Eden Barossa Valley. Deepset blackberry, satsuma plum and black cherry with hints of licorice, dark chocolate and earth. Powdery gypsum-like tannins, a bright line and a simmering sense of latent power on the concentrated, blackfruit- rich finish.
