Freya; the foremost goddess of ancient Germanic lands where the Riesling grape originated. This dual vineyard wine honours early German settlers who cultivated the Riesling vine in the exemplary micro-climate of South Australia's Eden Valley.
This is the fifteenth vintage of Freya, and we are proud to be the exclusive retailer of this magnum. It is an exceptional example of Eden Valley Riesling.
Central sub-region 25-year-old vines.
Craneford sub-region 45-year-old vines.
High Eden sub-region 22-year-old vines.
These vineyards were all hand-harvested in the cool of the morning across 4 different
picking dates and then chilled to a further 6ºC before being gently pressed. 100% whole-bunch and berry pressed with only the finest pressings retained. The juice was
settled cold and racked clear to begin fermentation. Fermented cool at 12-14C for 3 weeks before finishing sugar-dry. To promote palate texture, the wine was held on yeast lees for a further 3 months before being bottled.
Bursting with lemon, melon and lime aromas with a touch of lavender undertone. A
refreshing and bright palate with lovely mid-palate flesh, finishing with zest and crunchy acidity. A delicious wine, approachable upon release, will also mature very well for many years to come, especially in magnum format.
Enjoy now until 2050.
