Bright and juicy red cherry, raspberry and floral top notes open the nose, underpinned by savoury spice and earthen tones. The palate is generous, layered with elegant red fruits and a line of savoury, earthy spice. Rounded and juicy tannins carry through to a persistent and composed finish.

Viticulture & Winemaking

Sourced exclusively from a low-yielding, dry-grown vineyard of over 150 years of age in Eden Valley. Fermentation took place in small, open-top fermenters, incorporating a small proportion of whole bunches to lift Grenache’s natural savoury character. The wine was matured in seasoned French oak hogsheads for 14 months. 300 cases made.

While Shiraz may have defined John Duval’s winemaking legacy, Grenache has long held a place of quiet reverence. Annexus represents the pinnacle - crafted only in the very best years from old vine parcels set aside for their character and purity. The 2023 release continues this intent, sourced from an exceptional vintage and vineyard, and made to honour the depth and elegance of Barossa Grenache.
